My boyfriend has gone through a lot of different rain jackets in the two years we’ve been dating, so last Christmas, I was determined to find the perfect jacket for him.
I had heard that the Marmot Aegis was a good choice, but I was a bit skeptical when I looked at the price tag. It was really inexpensive compared to the other jackets he’d purchased, which usually translates into mediocre quality. The reviews won out, so I took a leap of faith and lucked out – he loves his Marmot Aegis!
In the past, it had been difficult for him to find a jacket that fits him. The Marmot Aegis is comfortable and he says it’s neither too bulky or conversely, too snug, as some men’s jackets tend to be. He’s able to move easily and comfortably on the trail without feeling constrained. And finally, the sleeves are actually long enough for him!
Another thing that I knew was really important to him was temperature control. He is a warm-blooded guy who tends to heat up pretty quickly. I had heard that the Marmot Aegis has good breathability and that definitely turned out to be the case. Rather than have that stifling rain coat material, it is conducive for air flow, especially through the pit vents.
On the flip side, the Aegis also has some good warming features for when the temperatures plummet so it can work both ways. We once got caught in a summer hail storm and he said the warming pockets and roll-away hood worked well.
What’s best is I come out looking good without paying a fortune. I highly recommend the Marmot Aegis as a gift for a boyfriend, brother, son, etc. It’s a top notch jacket at an affordable price! Go here to check it out.
