The 2010 Gregory Kalmia 28 is a roomy daypack that’s sleek enough to be your messenger bag and technical enough to carry you through an adventurous day hike.

The Kalmia 28 backpack is available in one size, measuring 16”-22” in the torso length and weighing 2 lb. 2.5 oz. There are three stylish colors from which to choose: Cinnabar, Obsidian and Basalt. The harness and molded backpanel are constructed of foam that is designed to stay comfortable for as long as you need.

An added bonus of the molded foam across your back is that unwieldy gear (like books) won’t poke its way through to your spine. This is a simple back pack, but definitely not a skimpy one.

If hiking is your choice and you’d rather not bother with water bottles, an insulated hydration port and sleeve offer a handy spot to stash your own hydration bladder. But if you’re headed to the library and not the great outdoors, most laptops fit snugly in the hydration sleeve. Gregory scores points for this versatility feature.

The key feature of the Kalmia 28 is its storage functionality. An offset zipper offers wide-open access to the main panel, and an inside mesh divider keeps your stuff where you want it. Tuck more supplies in the front, gusseted pocket.

There’s the padded, insulated compartment that doubles as a laptop sleeve or hydration port (this sleeve features smaller internal pockets, too!). Stash even more goodies in the top pocket, which will also hold your keys secure with the included clip.

A side mesh pocket provides one more storage zone. And if you are headed out for the powder, adjustable ice axe/trekking pole loops and a tuck-away elastic loop on the waist belt give you additional organization options.

If you’re a casual (or occasional) day hiker looking for a carryall bag as well, the Gregory Kalmia 28 will exceed your expectations. Attractive, versatile and teeming with pockets, the Kalmia stands out in the daypack crowd. Check out the great color options and technical features.
