View of Main Street in Frisco Colorado
Frisco is an unpretentious mountain town tucked away in Summit County, Colorado between Copper Mountain Ski area and the Dillon Reservoir. The town’s Main Street is chock full of shops, restaurants and bars that will satisfy even the most discriminate visitor.
Frisco’s central location in Summit County makes it a great jumping off point for some fabulous hiking and sightseeing. From Breckenridge, Colorado to the South and Copper Mountain to the west there are a multitude of hikes, activities and scenic drives that will capture your interest.
If you like to climb mountains and want to stay close, consider Mt.Royal which offers a short steady climb with a beautiful panorama as a reward. This hike can be accessed by walking to the bike path that runs on the south side of Frisco and head towards Breckenridge. The Frisco Visitors Center located on 3rd and Main is the place to get more information on local hiking, sightseeing and other activities.
For an overnight stay, The Hotel Frisco has a perfect location on Main and is warm and welcoming with the feel of a B&B. For lunch try The Boatyard for pizza and a variety of other fare. There are several good options for dinner with my favorite being the Blue Spruce Inn because of their consistently scrumptious food, stellar service and cozy atmosphere. Make reservations for this restaurant and ask for a table by the fireplace.
Frisco, Colorado is located in the heart of Summit County, Colorado where within minutes you can downhill ski or snowboard at Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin or Breckenridge ski resorts. Frisco, although busy during winter weekends seems to miss out on the chaos of nearby neighboring towns such as Breckenridge.
Frisco still maintains its small town feel in the midst of the Denver snow commuter craziness. If you travel I-70 on a winter weekend you will soon find out how many people visit this county to take advantage of the awesome winter sports opportunities.
Friscos nordic center boasts 13km of groomed cross country and snowshoeing trails along the Lake Dillon shoreline and a log lodge with a snack bar to warm up and fuel up. Ski and snowshoe rentals are available. The nordic center also offers daytime or moonlight snowshoe tours which is a good way to familiarize yourself with snowshoeing.
Special winter events include Wassail Days, in December where you can stroll the holiday decorated Main Street, stroll with carolers, take a horse drawn sleigh ride or get pictures with Santa while soaking up the magic of Christmas in Frisco, Colorado.

Frisco Restaurants
One of my favorite restaurants anywhere is located in Frisco. The Blue Spruce Inn has served scrumptious food since the 1940s and I’ve been enjoying the ambiance and delectable meals for over 10 years. Frisco also offers many other delicious options such as Tuscato for Italian lovers and Silverheels at the Ore House. There are many other options for dining and grabbing a cold one such as Moose Jaw, The Boatyard and Peppinos for pizza. When it’s time for a great breakfast head to the Log Cabin Cafe or Butterhorn Bakery.

You could spend weeks here and never get bored. There is an extensive bike path that stretches from Copper Mountain to Frisco and south to Breckenridge with additional paths going to Dillon along the resevoir. Don’t miss the 4th of July fireworks that are launched from the Dillon Resevoir area. They are some of the best!
